Only a few Orange County firms actually specialize in healthcare AI. Search the term and most results are managed IT providers that added an AI page, app development shops, or vendors selling AI agents and "AI receptionists." Those are different businesses. This list covers only the firms whose core work is AI for healthcare.

Who Is Left Out, And Why

Managed IT providers with an AI page. HIPAA-grade help desk, security, and compliance are their core business. That is worth having, but their AI recommendations tend to favor the stack they already manage.
App and healthcare software development shops. These dominate the Clutch and DesignRush lists. They build products. If your problem is that nobody knows which chatbot is allowed to see a patient name, a dev shop will quote you a build.
AI agent and "AI employee" vendors. They sell a subscription product, usually a scribe, chatbot, or phone agent. A seller of one product cannot give you a neutral read on what your practice needs.

Why It Matters: Adoption Has Outrun Governance

MGMA's September 2025 poll found 68% of medical groups added or expanded AI tools in 2025, with ambient documentation the top target. Its January 2026 poll found only 20% had a formal AI governance policy. Roughly two in three practices using AI are doing it without written rules.

The exposure is concrete. HIPAA Journal's 2025 Healthcare Data Breach Report found California led every state with 69 breaches affecting 11.8 million people, and 35.8% of breaches nationally involved a business associate. For a 30-person practice, an AI vendor without a BAA is a business associate problem waiting to be discovered.

Pricing is a fixed implementation fee plus a monthly software fee tied to volume, with a stated typical payback of four to six months; amounts are not published.

Best for: independent and small-group clinics that already know which front-office workflow they want automated.

Less of a fit if: you have not yet decided what is allowed, who is trained, or which vendors to trust. Build after policy, not before.

Opinosis Analytics (no Orange County office)

Opinosis Analytics has a healthcare machine learning practice in coding, billing, and denials, naming 3M Health Information Systems and Huntsman Cancer Institute as clients. Its offices are in Detroit, Utah, Los Angeles, Sacramento, New York, and Dallas, and its healthcare page does not mention HIPAA, so ask.

Best for: revenue-cycle teams with a specific machine learning problem.

The Compliance Questions To Ask Any Firm

Which vendors sign a BAA, and on which tiers? Any vendor that touches PHI on your behalf must be under a Business Associate Agreement, and the tier matters: OpenAI offers a BAA for its API and ChatGPT Enterprise, but not for ChatGPT Business. A consultant who says "ChatGPT is HIPAA compliant" without naming the tier is not being careful. See the HIPAA-safe starting point for medical practices and the dental version.

How will we handle AB 3030? Since January 1, 2025, California Health and Safety Code section 1339.75 requires generative AI patient communications about clinical information to carry a disclaimer and a way to reach a human, unless a licensed provider reviews the message first.

Where does the data physically live? For behavioral health notes, substance use records under 42 CFR Part 2, or any workflow where the practice would rather not trust a cloud vendor's terms, a local model where data never leaves the building is the honest answer.

Is AI your core business, and do you resell anything? A reseller's recommendation is not neutral. Neither is an MSP's on the stack it manages.

When did you last tell a healthcare client not to buy something? An advisor will have an example ready.
